Weekly Weigh In- June Tune Up/Weight Loss Wednesdays- 6/13/12

June Tune-Up Challenge       

Not sure if you read last week's post, but I mentioned how last week's weight loss helped me psychologically. Unfortunately this weeks weight GAIN also impacted me psychologically. I know I snacked more this past week and didn't meet most of my goals. And then I got upset and really snacked today. Wondering if I will ever learn. Here's to a better week.
 Here are my goals for June. Let's see how I did.
Green = success
Red= Failure
  1. No snacking after dinner. (Only exception is Saturday for movie and popcorn night.)
  2. Get to bed by 11:00 or soon thereafter depending on baby.
  3. Get moving somehow everyday.
  4. Dessert at lunch is fruit.
  5. Dessert at dinner is a healthy snack. Like today we had graham crackers and fat free cool whip. 
  6. I will allow myself a unhealthy dessert once or twice a week (if I am making something with the girls.) 
  7. I will write down everything I eat. I am not going to attempt to sit down and figure out my calories at this point. But I will keep a record of what I eat.
Didn't drink my tea every day and my water consumption wasn't as good. Guess I know why I gained weight. Thing is, I didn't expect to gain almost ALL of it back.  Grrrrr.

So, my starting weight for this summer of weight loss is 242.1

Last week's weight was 238.5

This week's weight is

I gained 2.9 pounds.
I am now 19.5 pounds lighter than my highest weight in Dec of 2010.
And I never did get my measurements.

Weigh In #12: Plus Size Bloggers Tracking Challenge: Bye Bye Booties! and Slimmer This Summer Check In










Okay, no real walks to speak of this week. Though more than last week. Same kind of eating. I guess you may be able to tell what that equation equals. Yep, I gained again.  I gained 1.6 pounds this week. Ouch!





The great thing is, I still weigh less than I did at the start of my previous pregnancy! I even mentioned that to my doctor at my visit last week and she did say I looked thinner.

Weigh In #11: Plus Size Bloggers Tracking Challenge: Bye Bye Booties! and Slimmer This Summer Check In








Okay, no real walks to speak of this week. Same kind of eating. I guess you may be able to tell what that equation equals. Yep, I gained again.  However, I can say I only gained 5 pounds in my first trimester. I guess that isn't that bad, though I had wanted it to be less. I am now in my second trimester. I gained 1.4 pounds this week. Ouch!

The great thing is, I still weigh less than I did at the start of my previous pregnancy!

I don't really see losing any more weight this pregnancy.  But who knows.  I am just hoping most of the weight gain will be baby weight.

Weigh In #9: Plus Size Bloggers Tracking Challenge: Bye Bye Booties! and Slimmer This Summer Check In









I gained again.  I hadn't thought I had done that badly. I know the pretzels right before bed are not great for me, but I have to have something and they work the best.  Last week we also walked for an hour Sunday night.  This week I haven't been able to get out and walk.  My son no longer lives with us, he finally got his apartment.  Unfortunately, this leaves us nobody to watch the children at night. When hubby is home we liked to walk around town after the children were in bed. Not as possible now.  So, we'll see how I do next week. Here is my weight this week

Weigh In #6: Plus Size Bloggers Tracking Challenge: Bye Bye Booties! and Slimmer This Summer Check In






Okay, the late night snacks I need to eat before going to bed and the exhaustion which is keeping me from my late night walks have contributed to a weight gain this week.  Of course the fact that whole grain snacks make me feel nauseous and I gravitate toward the chips and donuts etc didn't help.  I will just have to try to do better next week.  Because this much of a gain is too much even for pregnancy

up 2.4 pounds.

Weight Loss Wednesdays June 29, 2011



I am not sure what happened.  I weighed the same on Monday that I did last Wednesday. I had that same result last week.  Only this time I went up from Monday.  It may be the two slices of pizza, 4 mini donuts and sodium filled lunch from yesterday.  I realize I should have had one slice of pizza and some salad.  I really should have had a salad for lunch instead of the canned LaChoy Chinese food.  Especially knowing that I had to weigh in today.  But with our long walks at night I thought I was okay.  I have found it more difficult to record my calories these last few days.  Not sure how to figure out how to fill in the tacos I ate the other night.  Definitely not sure how to fill in the pizza as it was store bought.    Then I ended up having a snack after our walk today.  Oops.  And I was doing pretty good not snacking too much.

So this week I did try to write down what I ate at the time I was eating/preparing the meal.  Sometimes I succeeded, other's I didn't.  I either lost the paper or forgot altogether.  I can say I did better on the days when I got the food recorded.  With trying to keep up with the children it is a little daunting spending time online trying to find the food that matches what I ate and if it is not there I have to add it in.  Very time consuming.  In fact I still need to log in today's.  I'm trying really hard to eat healthy, but sometimes I just need to eat what we have available.

Weight Loss Wednesdays A Day Late, Plus Two New Weight Loss Challenges

I am frustrated and excited at the same time.  I have had another week of not meeting my goals.  I know I have gained weight, I am just not sure how much.  The balance board is once again not working.  The batteries were left in it and it drained them too much again I guess. The last time this happened I had to buy brand new rechargeable batteries, because the charger would not charge them sufficiently enough to be used in the balance board.  So, I now have to use the digital scale, which might work out better, because I noticed one thing about the Wii Board, it was not always very accurate.  It would give me different weights within minutes of each other if it was moved a foot.  Unfortunately the digital scale is a least 2 pounds off from the balance board according to Steven.  I am actually putting this week's weight down as a new starting weight.  That is because I am starting two new challenges for the summer.  Plus Size Bloggers is once again hosting a challenge, and this time there are lots of prizes.  Head on over to join up, the challenge officially starts on June 6th and runs through August 29th.  What kind of goal are you looking at? A loss of 15 pounds in this 12 week period.  Think you can't lose that much in 12 weeks, don't worry, there are prizes just for checking in and tracking your progress.

I am not sure how to show my weight.  It was obviously a gain. I was snacking, eating after dinner, eating sweets, not getting my water, not drinking my green tea, not exercising.  Which is still bothering me.  I started out May with such high hopes and it was a complete flop. I am going to put the last two months behind me.  April was bad, but May was worse.  And because of the Balance Board not working I am not sure how my weight compares.  According to the numbers I am actually more than I was at the beginning of the May challenge.  If I take into account that my son says the digital scale is usually 2 pounds more than the Balance Board then I ended this month at about the same weight.  From now on I will be using the digital scale for my weigh ins, that way there will be no confusion.  Unfortunately that means no pretty pictures of my Mii.  Oh well.

Wednesday Weigh In April 27, 2011

Well, I didn't get any pictures this week.  Could be because the scale went up not down.  I figured the lack of exercise and snacking would catch up to me.  I was really surprised I lost weight the last two weeks.  April has been a really bad month.  So many birthdays.  Plus our anniversary. Then we had a wedding to attend last weekend and Easter with its lovely candy.  Of course there were refreshments at church.  And now, this weekend, we have a baby shower to attend.  And we said we would make the cake!  What was I thinking?!?

Very depressing looking at the weight today.  I gained 2.5 pounds.  I do think I wouldn't have gained as much if I had exercised and then weighed in. But I just didn't have time, again.  I have had quite a few toss and turn nights, only to wake up too late to get any exercise in.  When I did exercise yesterday I started feeling queasy part way through.  Sort of a bummer to see I didn't make the 220 mark yet and I just drifted further away from it.

I can't wait til the next challenge over at the Sisterhood.  In case you are wondering it starts May 1st and they will be sharing details soon.  May 1st is also the start of my little challenge over here at Turn My Life Around.  I am going to be giving away a copy of the book Chicken Soup for the Soul: Shaping the New You.  This prize will go to the person with the biggest percentage of weight loss for the month of May.  All you need to do is sign up over at this post

Spring In2 Action Challenge: Week 6

Spring In2 Action

  Time for the final weigh in and check in with Spring In2 Action over a The Sisterhood of the Shrinking Jeans.

I was actually surprised by this week's results.  I had no time to exercise, okay, fine, I failed to make time.  I didn't get up early enough, was spending too much time online.  I actually (conveniently) forgot one of my important goals, if I am going to be on the computer I need to exercise for at least 30 minutes.  Oops. As you will see below, I didn't do well.

We also had Hannah's birthday this past week, which means birthday cake.  I was so proud of myself for refusing to eat the ice cream, and then I went and sneaked quite a bit of frosting (homemade buttercream, I might add).  And it was our anniversary so we went out to eat.  Needless to say, not my best week this year.  Probably my worst.

I think I will never make that water consumption and nibbling chart.

Anyhow, I actually lost weight again this week.  Unfortunately I didn't meet those intermediate goals I was aiming for.

Spring In2 Action Challenge: Week 2

Spring In2 Action

  Time to weigh in and check in with Spring In2 Action over a The Sisterhood of the Shrinking Jeans.

Well this week was far from stellar.  Must I post?    Okay, fine, if you insist.

I have definitely had a hard time meeting my goals this week.  

Here are my goals from the beginning of the year. I haven't really looked at them recently, so lets see how I am doing as we are now in the middle of March.

  • Go to bed by 11pm   Nope, midnight still seems to be the best I can do.
  • Wake up and read the Old Testament reading from The NIV Daily Bible I have got to start doing this. But because I wake up later than I want I don't take the time to do this.  The way it is right now, trying to get my exercise in, we are not ready for our day until around 10am.  What with having to eat breakfast, clean up, brush teeth and hair.  Gotta get to bed by 11 and set my alarm I guess, because this goal is too important to neglect.
  • Use the Wii Fit Plus (my routine is currently 20 minutes of Yoga and Strength and 30-40 minutes of Aerobics, depending upon the children of course)  I have been getting the Yoga and Strength done everyday minus one.  But some days that is all I get in.  I have had a hard time getting the extra exercise in this week.  And when I do it has been the Wii aerobics, like the step and boxing which is obviously not enough.  Need to fit in that DVD!
  • Be more active with the children (dancing, chasing around, park in the spring, walks when it warms up) Let's see, we danced a couple of days this week.  
  • Read my New Testament and Psalms/Proverbs readings from The NIV Daily Bible at nap time, plus my Blogging to Bible Study challenge. Okay, have not been doing this either.  And I have never found out any more about the Blogging to Bible Study challenge, not sure what happened with it.
  • Possibly get some exercise in during nap time (but I will use this time for blogging too). Probably my Aerobics DVD, or a walk in good weather.  Hoping to get a Step DVD with taxes. None this week.
  • Eat at least one salad a day. Haven't met this goal this week.
  • Cut way back on sweets. Again, not my best week.  We have that Biggest Loser Cookbook from the library and I have been trying to use recipes from it.  Unfortunately I have also made some desserts, which would be okay if I limit them to lunch time like I was supposed to but we have had snacks after dinner.  Ooops.
  • Get up and clean or walk or something while I wait for the slow computer to load, instead of twiddling my thumbs. Ooops
  • I am looking into the 16 Week Challenge in my book by the First Place author Carole Lewis titled Back on Track. Not doing this after all.
  • No food after dinner, I will allow myself a dessert occasionally, but it has to by at dinner time. Yes, I know I said above that I don't allow myself dessert after dinner but here it says I do.  I changed this goal after posting these goals. I have been faithful to not actually eating after dinner is done though.
  • No late night snacking. Check.
  • Drink lots of water, including 2 glasses full before each meal. Not my best week for remembering water before the meals.
My goal is to lose at least 60 pounds by the end of 2011. I think I will be able to do more than that now, seeing how well I have done during the past 2 1/2 months. I do realize the weight won't come off as easily or as fast as I keep losing.  I started the year at 257.3, have lost 24.8 pounds already.  I'd love to accomplish a 10 pound loss each month, but I don't think that is realistic as I keep losing weight. I would love to try to lose another 70 pounds by the end of the year.  
My short term goal is to lose 10 pounds by the end of the Power of One Challenge on February 23rd. Well, I surpassed that.

I really wasn't sure how I was going to do this week.  I know I still haven't been doing as much exercise as I was because of my foot, though it has improved greatly.  And somehow along the way I have gotta away from some of my other goals. I haven't been very faithful at getting my exercise in twice a day.  I have been spending more time sitting at the computer again.  And still haven't managed to get to bed by 11pm.  Midnight is about the best I seem to do.  I use the excuse that I have my uninterrupted computer time after the children are finally settled down for the night.  I really don't know how I spend so much time online though.  Gotta work on that bedtime this week.

I have snacked more this week than I had been.  Especially while getting meals ready.  Sometimes I catch myself and pour myself a glass of water.  Gotta remember the water first.   

I did not reach my intermediate goal for Wii Fit, so now I am questioning my ability to be down to 220 by my birthday.  We'll see.

However, looking at the last two weeks, perhaps I lost too much last week?  I know, I'm reaching.  Still shouldn't have gained.
